Why the job is different in Taif

Taif's altitude brings thick morning fog regularly. Humidity rises and drying takes many more hours. Damp stone is an ideal environment for slow but steady organic growth to establish itself.

Sandstone and mortar in Taif feed lichen and mould growth. Growth is slow in summer but accelerates in spring and autumn when humidity is high and temperatures mild. Darker north facing walls are colonised first.

We test first on hidden stone because sandstone in Taif may be weak. Lichen may be very firmly bonded. Testing shows the real strength and the right method.

Glass may be thick older panes. Fog leaves mineral stains. Warm water and very gentle mild acid may take longer but work without damage.

Stone and mortar host organic growth. We use biocidal treatment before cleaning to kill lichen and mould. Very mild acid treatment only for the strongest stone.

Ground around the mosque and souq may be public squares. Water must drain carefully to avoid pooling at entrances. Morning fog may make drying take hours.

What is different about Makkah Region
