What is different about East Riyadh

East Riyadh runs from King Abdullah Road and Khurais Road out past the eastern ring road towards Al Janadriyah. Al Rawdah, Al Naseem and Al Yarmuk are established districts of villas and mid rise apartment blocks, while Al Rimal, Al Munsiyah and Ishbiliyah are newer estates with more compact houses and lighter finishes. This side of the city faces the open desert and the sand belt of the Dahna, so it takes the first and heaviest share of every dust storm, and fine sand works into stairwells, balconies and window tracks all along the Dammam highway.

The district faces the open Dahna directly several kilometres to the east. Easterly winds carry fine sand straight here from open desert.

The filter clogs even on calm days, is this normal?
Yes. The sand from the Dahna is extremely fine and settles rapidly even without strong wind. Tiny particles find their way through every gap and crack.

Would night pool covers reduce sand entry significantly?
Yes, a good cover overnight can reduce sand entry. However, covering all day prevents swimming, and fine sand still finds cracks when covers are not fitted perfectly.

The pool is near a public garden, does this add more dust?
Gardens provide some plant cover but do not stop strong eastern winds. They may add leaf and organic debris as well, which complicates filter cleaning.

Summer winds are stronger, do we need more frequent service?
Yes. During strong easterly wind seasons, pools may need weekly or twice-weekly service to stay clear and safe.
